Self Evaluation
What strengths did you bring to your internship?
Some strengths that I brought to my internship was my personality. You have to be outgoing when running a gym. You have to greet people and provide them with a friendly environment. You also have to assist people the best way possible for good customer service when they have issues with billing or their account. I knew a lot of people at the gym before my internship so that was another advantage.
What are some of your major weaknesses?
My major weakness at this job was financing. I took one finance class and I struggled with it. I had an accounting class and also struggled with that. I had to be very thorough with my work and double check it. I learned to not be afraid of numbers and doing things that I am not good at.
Do you feel you adequately satisfied the duties expected of you by the sponsoring organization? Why or why not?
I feel satisfied with the job I did. I was trusted to train the incoming manager. I was trusted to do all the finances by myself. They also left me to run the gym by myself.
Do you feel you adequately satisfied the time requirements (150 clock hours) of the internship?
For this organization, I think 150 was plenty of time to accomplish what I needed to learn. For others, I think you need more experience and time.
What helpful suggestions would you make for future interns?
I would advise you to be confident in your work. I had to step out of my element for my internship and once I did, I had a great time. Also, don't settle for any internship you can find.
What did you gain from your experience?
I gained a lot from my internship. I gained a lot of accounting and financing experience. I became better at handling customer service and interacting with people. I learned what it takes to run a gym and to keep your members happy and involved. I also learned a lot of marketing skills.
What grade would you give yourself for your experience?
I would give myself an A-. I think I made a lot of members happy and feel special when I was there. I also was trusted with a lot of important tasks everyday. And most importantly the finances were not messed up!
